How It Works: Quote, Proof, Made by Hand, Delivered
Five steps from your first message to the box on your doorstep — and you hear from us at every one.
The five steps
Built on the Seam.
Six interlocking threads distribute load across the full seam width — no single point of failure. Mauser tape (bonded woven binding) wraps the outside edge, encasing the raw neoprene and locking the stitch in place. A cross stitch at each end secures the Mauser tape. Survives years of use, washing, and the Australian summer.
Custom Stubby Coolers, Done Properly
A custom stubby cooler is supposed to do two things — keep your drink cold and last longer than the event it was made for. Most don’t. Below is what we use, how we build them, and why it matters.
Why neoprene (and why thickness matters)
Every stubby cooler we make is cut from 6 mm closed-cell neoprene — the real stuff. That’s the same material wetsuits are built from — flexible, insulating, and water-resistant by nature. Most cheap stubby holders are 3–5 mm or made from open-cell foam that compresses out within a season. The 6 mm wall traps a thicker layer of insulating air between your hand and the can, keeps the chill where it belongs, and stops the stubby cooler from going floppy after a few washes.
That’s why neoprene also takes a sublimation print better than any other coolable material. The dye bonds to the surface at a molecular level, which is why the artwork on a Stubby Hut stubby cooler doesn’t crack, peel, or fade — even after a summer in the sun.
Made by hand, one at a time
Every personalised stubby holder we ship is handmade on the Gold Coast — no outsourcing, no offshore mass-production. Printed, laser-cut, overlocked along the seam on industrial machines, and finished with bonded woven Mauser tape that covers the seam and locks in the stitch with a cross-stitch at each end. This is the part most makers skip.
How to prepare your artwork
You don’t need to be a designer — send what you’ve got and we’ll sort the rest. But if you want the sharpest possible result, here’s what works best:
File format. PNG, JPG or PDF at 300dpi prints cleanly. For a logo, a vector file is ideal — it stays crisp at any size. No vector? A high-resolution PNG or PDF is fine. Transparent backgrounds. If your logo or design should sit straight on the cooler colour, send a PNG with a transparent background so there’s no white box around it. Photos. The clearer and higher-resolution the photo, the better it prints — a crisp, well-lit shot beats a small screenshot every time. Full-wrap layout. Your design wraps the whole cooler; we set the layout up for you and show the complete wrap on a digital proof before anything prints. Nothing goes to production until you’ve signed it off, and one round of revisions is included.
