Made by Maggie

People forget most stubby coolers by the second drink. Maggie makes the kind they keep for ten years, because of whose name’s on it.

The Stubby Hut started at the kitchen table. Maggie’s a crafter with a sharp eye for detail and design, and she began by making something special for the people around her. That grew into a workshop full of custom orders, one cooler at a time.

She’s a Gold Coast local now, but she grew up in the country, out bush. That upbringing shaped how she works. Out there, the things worth having get built to last by someone who cared enough to do it right, and she holds every cooler to the same line.

The Gold Coast workshop, where every order is made by hand.

These days it’s a family business. Maggie runs it with a hand from her husband, and they make every order by hand in their Gold Coast workshop. It’s 6mm neoprene, the real wetsuit stuff. The artwork goes into the fabric by sublimation, so it won’t crack or peel. You see a proof before anything gets made, and nothing leaves until Maggie’s happy with it. She won’t send out a cooler she wouldn’t keep herself.

She makes more than coolers, too. Bar mats and fridge magnets come in the same artwork, so a wedding or a milestone birthday can run one design across the whole set.

Her favourite orders are the memorials. A tribute to someone who’s gone, printed onto something the family uses at every barbecue and every Christmas. The nickname only three people know. The dog’s name in the right font.

Cold drink, warm story. Tell Maggie what it’s for, and she’ll make something worth keeping.
